On 13 February 2020 in Sofia University Conference Hall took place the Kick-off Meeting of the Research Data Alliance – Bulgaria Node under the coordination of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI). It was attended by more than 30 representatives of the Bulgarian academic and research community among which were the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mrs. Karina Angelieva and experts from the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the Director of the National Centre for Information and Documentation (NCID) Mrs. Vanya Grashkina and experts from NCID.
The coodinators of RDA – Bulgaria Node prof. Ani Proykova and prof. Maria Nisheva from FMI presented its scope of activities, objectives and workplan. Prof. Krassen Stefanov (FMI) shared information about open science and ICT in science and education. Assistant Albena Antonova (FMI) presented the RDA – Bulgaria website and the numerous opportunities the work groups at the RDA Europe website offer. Atanas Georgiev (FMI) shared his experience with Sofia University’s platform for scientific and academic research.
An important aspect of RDA Bulgaria Node Kick-off meeting was the open discussion with all participants. They were able to share their point of view and perspective on the topics of open data in Bulgaria and development of the Bulgarian Open Science Cloud.
The RDA - Bulgaria Node Kick-off Meeting received great support and all participants expressed willingness for further meetings in short time in order to shape the discussed ideas in an action plan.
